Every born-again believer within a local New Testament church should consider themselves a minister of God.Too often we allot that title only to those with advanced degrees or appropriated positions. But the truth is, the word “minister” simply means “one who serves.” No matter who you are and no matter where you are, you have been called by God to serve the community of faith to which you belong.
Paul said, “Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not” (2 Corinthians 4:1) Say those four words to yourself: We have this ministry. Indeed, we have this ministry, not they have this ministry, not even I have this ministry. But we have it. It has been entrusted to us all.
Therefore, we must continually evaluate our hearts and minds before the Lord to secure our won spiritual strength. In ever season: Whether in or out, old or new, big or small, vibrant or dry, we must be prepared to proclaim truth, care for the afflicted, and serve the body of Christ. If we fail to nourish our own souls, we will be hard-pressed to effectively minister to those around us. This devotional manual is designed to highlight and strengthen seven key areas of ministry.
